The Cost of Discipline

True freedom comes with discipline plus passion pursued for the right reasons.

I wouldn't know the glorious freedom of improvising on the piano or writing my own music if I hadn't spent 13 years of my life learning this language and thousands of hours of practice. I wouldn't know the freedom of being able to write & express myself fully if I didn't expand my building blocks of thought & vocabulary by reading hundreds of books over the years, then trying to write and learning from my mistakes.

That's why, what matters is not how good you are, but that you are doing your utmost to do the one thing very well.

People dislike the word discipline these days. But you can't do anything or go anywhere without it. The most powerful thing is a disciplined life driven by purpose and fueled by vision, not blind ambition.
